Lewis Carnegie And We

We were fortunate enough to be a part of an afternoon music showcase at El Chavez on Thursday, March 15th called, “Live Music to the World.” El Chavez is the workspace of photographer Woody Welch and designer Sean Carnegie. These gentlemen not only have a lot of talent and an awesome studio, but they also have a soft spot in their hearts for Students of the World.

With that being said, they were kind enough to let us be the beneficiary for their unofficial SXSW event. We had beer, wine, mason jars for cups, chips, hot dogs, old school polaroid pictures, and raffle items all for suggested monetary donations to help us raise money toward our upcoming trip to Haiti.

The bands rocked it, too. We had the following performers: Joe Dowdle, Weird Children, Elijah Ford, Sister Ruby Band, and Dustin Perkins.

In addition, they also did a podcast with SOW Executive Director and Founder, Courtney Spence leading up to the event. Stay tuned for pictures and video from our “Live Music to the World” event.

All components together made for a fun and successful afternoon. Also, we couldn’t have had such an awesome event without our generous sponsors: Lewis Carnegie, Woody Welch Photography, CULT Wine, and Kegerator.com.
